Tucked quietly into the historic center on aristocratic Plaza Manises, this five-star flagship property is housed within a beautifully restored 19th-century mansion. The design leans heavily into timeless Art Deco accents of black and white marble with subtle Baroque elements of gold filigree in the light fittings. With just 31 exclusive rooms, we found it had more of a private residential feel, as if we were returning to our very own — albeit rather grand! — pied-a-terre.
What makes this property truly irreplaceable is its layered history. During the structural renovations, builders uncovered the intact remnants of a 3rd-century Roman perfumery. It’s why the hotel (which is excellent) has been given the name La Perfumería.
Spend your mornings exploring the narrow lanes of the old town, afternoons sipping drinks on the rooftop terrace overlooking the Palacio de la Generalitat and the cathedral.
